Summary/Show Notes/Abstract
Proverbs 20: Gaining Wisdom For Life's Challenges" Summary/Abstract Show Notes Robert is leading a study group reading Proverbs 20. He explains that research shows that if you read the Bible four times a week, it can have a positive effect on your life. Robert is welcoming all newcomers to the study, as he is still figuring it out himself. He is happy to have them join him on the journey.
The study is almost turning into a habit as they have been doing it for some time. Robert encourages everyone to give it a try and see what kind of changes they can make in their life. This passage from Proverbs discusses a variety of topics related to wisdom and understanding. It starts by warning against the dangers of alcohol and quick-tempered leaders. It then moves on to discuss the importance of knowing what is right and drawing from the wisdom within.
It also touches on the difficulty of finding loyal and loving people and the importance of leaders being diligent. The passage then advises against price-switching and padding expenses, and encourages young people to have honest motives. Finally, the passage states that drinking from the beautiful chalice of knowledge is more valuable than adorning oneself with gold and gems. It concludes by cautioning against lending to strangers and accepting what they have pawned.
The conversation revolved around Proverbs chapter 20, which features various proverbs that explain the importance of proper conduct and decision-making. The speaker highlighted several verses and imparted advice on how to approach life. He noted that gossiping is unwise and that curses directed at parents will only result in one's own cursing. He also warned against making hasty promises and cautioned against deceit in commerce.
The speaker also noted that gray hair brings prestige and that a good thrashing can help purge evil. He concluded by praising young people for having the courage to stand up for their beliefs and encouraged others to support them. The speaker talks about the importance of punishment in spiritual growth, and how it is necessary to accept the consequences of our actions if we have made mistakes.
He uses the 12-step program as an example of how to make amends for our mistakes and encourages the listeners to seek help if needed. He finishes by reminding the listeners that tomorrow is the start of a new habit and that they should spread the episode to anyone who needs encouragement.

"Wisdom For Living: Proverbs 19 Explores The Consequences Of Choices"
Summary/Abstract Show Notes
In this conversation, Robert welcomes the listener to Set Free 24 7 and talks about his own experience of not having any police contact since 2010. He then explains that the purpose of the program is to read a chapter of Proverbs a day in order to keep the police away. Robert then reads from Proverbs 19 from The Message Version, which states that it is better to be poor and honest than a rich person who is untrustworthy. He also adds that ignorant zeal is worthless.
In conclusion, Robert encourages the listener to add the Bible to their daily routine in order to see a change in their life. The conversation discussed a proverb that states Haste makes waste. The speaker discussed how people often ruin their own lives through their own stupidity and then blame God for it. The speaker mentioned that wealth attracts friends, but poverty can leave one feeling alone and ostracized. Perjury won't go unpunished, and God will reward those who are kind and generous.
It's important to have a wise heart, be honest, and have self-discipline in order to have a good life. The speaker also discussed how angry people will face the backlash of their own anger and how lazy people will go hungry. Finally, the speaker concluded that God's will will ultimately prevail and that it is better to be honest than to try and make a quick buck. The conversation is about three verses from Proverbs 19:21, 19:21, and 19:5.
The first verse talks about how humans often make their own plans, but God's plans will always prevail. The second verse talks about how it is important to listen to the advice of your child, or else you may find yourself in over your head. The third verse is about how having free will can lead to making mistakes.
The takeaway from the conversation is that it is important to put God first in all of our plans, and to be willing to listen to the advice of others, as this can help us avoid making costly mistakes.

He was impressed by the men and women protecting everyone at the event. He also noted how the atmosphere changed when they got closer to the stage, with people's hair getting redder and the dances getting more precise. He mentions that he can't quite keep up with the Irish dancing. This conversation is in the context of Proverbs 18.
This conversation discusses Proverbs 18 from the Message Version of the Bible, which talks about how words can both kill and give life. It encourages people to think before they speak and to not be quick to judge. It also speaks about how having a healthy spirit can help conquer adversity and that wisdom comes from learning and listening. Lastly, it says that a generous gift can help gain attention from eminent people. In summary, this conversation focuses on the importance of being careful when it comes to speaking and the power of words.
This conversation is from Chapter 18 of Proverbs, a book of wisdom and moral guidance. The speaker discusses how to make decisions, and how to treat friends and strangers alike. Listening to gossip is compared to eating cheap candy - it's not enjoyable and can be damaging to relationships. The speaker also believes that we must understand God's character in order to treat others with love and kindness. The speaker emphasizes that if someone talks about someone else in front of you, they may be talking about you when you're not around.
Ultimately, Proverbs encourages us to make decisions wisely, treat people with love and respect, and to be mindful of how our words and actions can impact others. The speaker discussed Proverbs 15:14, which states that the name of God is a place of protection. The speaker encouraged listeners to invite God into difficult situations and to always be learning and listening for fresh insights. "Proverbs 17: A Cheerful Disposition Is Good For Your Health"
Summary/Abstract
Robert is celebrating St. Patrick's Day and wearing red in support of his deployed military family members. He is a veteran himself and his wife has two sons in the Marines, showing the family's strong support for the military. Robert initially considered wearing a green wig to mark the occasion, but opted instead for a festive red outfit. He is proud to show his support for those who are deployed.
This proverb from Proverbs talks about the importance of peace and wisdom, and how evil people enjoy malicious conversation. It also speaks of the importance of friendship and how a quiet rebuke to a good person is better than a whack on the head of a fool. It goes on to suggest that evil will return to those who do evil, and that whitewashing bad people and throwing mud on good people are both abhorrent to God.
The overall message is that peace and wisdom are essential in life, and we should strive to practice these values in order to avoid conflict. This conversation is based on the Biblical Proverbs 17 and centers around the concept that fools are out shopping for wisdom. The speaker reflects on how foolishness can lead to a difficult childhood, often resulting in parents having to bear the burden of their child's foolishness.
The speaker states that having a cheerful disposition is good for health and warns against taking bribes and rewarding bad behavior. The speaker also encourages us to find wisdom in our own backyard and to remain calm even when we don't have all the answers. Finally, the speaker stresses the importance of stopping quarrels before they become too big to handle.
The speaker shared several proverbs from chapter 17 of Proverbs from the Bible in relation to how to handle difficult situations. They stated that it is best to speak face-to-face with someone who is having an issue, instead of throwing mud or engaging in negative behavior. They also encouraged having a cheerful disposition as this is good for one's health. Lastly, they shared a personal experience of how dressing up and having a positive attitude can make a difference in how conversations with others go. The speaker then wished everyone a safe St. Patrick's Day.

Proverb of the Day: A Cheerful Disposition is Good for Your Health
Highlights
Let's see, what else do we got here? A cheerful disposition is good for your health. Leave you bone tired friends, that's my favorite one of the whole thing. having a cheerful disposition, doing something that makes somebody laugh or smile wearing something like this when I go out to grab some groceries.
Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble. It's stupid to get something for nothing or run up huge bills that you can never pay.
A quiet rebuke to a good person of good sense does more than a whack on the head of a fool. Criminals out looking for nothing but trouble. They'll meet it coming and going.
And this one is titled A Whack on the Head of a Fool. A meal of bread and water in contented peace is better than a banquet spiced with quarrels.

"Proverb A Day: Everything Has A Place And Purpose"
Summary/Abstract Show Notes
Robert welcomed the listener to another proverb day, which is like proverbs on the porch, but no catchy name was decided yet. This was day 16 of the proverb a day to keep the police away challenge. Robert asked how the listener’s week was going and then jumped straight into Proverb 16 titled Everything With a Place and Purpose. The proverb states that mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word and humans are satisfied with whatever looks good, while God probes for the good. It is suggested to put God in charge of one's work and then what they've planned will take place.
Everything was made with a place and purpose, even the wicked. The conversation emphasizes the importance of taking life seriously and living humbly. It warns against pride and arrogance, as God does not tolerate these qualities. Good leaders motivate and do not mislead, as God cares about honesty in the workplace.
It is better to be right and poor than wrong and rich. Wisdom and insight are worth more than money, and gracious words add to one's reputation. Following the right path leads to life, while the wrong one leads to hell. Ultimately, trusting in God is the best way to ensure success and fulfillment. This conversation is about the wise sayings of Chapter 16 of Proverbs.
It speaks of the importance of appetite as an incentive to work and how hunger can motivate us to work harder. It acknowledges that mean people spread mean gossip and start fights, while gossipers break up friendships. It also warns of the temptation of evil intentions and how self-control is better than political power. Ultimately, the conversation emphasizes that God has the final say and that it is important to stay on the straight and narrow and to always remember it.

Summary of Proverbs 16: Appetite, Mean People, Troublemakers, Gossips, and God's Final Say
Highlights
Self control better than political power. Make your emotions and cast your votes. But God has the final say. And friends, that's it for Chapter 16. Just like that, we're done. What stood out to you today? I love how it ends with and God has the final say. Make your motions, cast your votes. We're in such a weird political time right now. It's crazy. But friends, God has the final say. Let's always remember that, okay? It doesn't matter what side this, that and the other.
Get wisdom. It's worth more than money. Choose insight over income every time the road of right living bypasses evil. Watch your step and save your life. First pride and then the crash. The bigger the ego, the harder the fall. It's better to live humbly among the poor than to live it up among the rich and famous. It pays to take life seriously. Things work out when you trust in God. A wise person gets known for insight.
So Proverb 16, we'll jump right in here. It is titled Everything With a Place and Purpose. So mortals make elaborate plans. But God has the last word. Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good. God probes for what is good. Put God in charge of your work. Then what you've planned will take place. God made everything with a Place and Purpose. Even the wicked are included. But for judgment, god can't stomach arrogance or pretense.. Believe me, he'll put those brigarts in their place.
Guilt is banished through love and truth. Fear of God deflects evil. When God approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand. Far better to be right and poor than to be wrong and rich. We plan the way that we want to live. But only God makes us able to live it. This next section is titled it Pays to Take Life Seriously. A good leader motivates, doesn't mislead and doesn't exploit.

"Proverb Of The Day: "God Doesn't Miss A Thing"
Summary/Abstract
The speaker is talking about finding a sheriff hat at Goodwill and how he was excited to buy it. He then transitions to quoting a proverb from Proverbs 15: God doesn't miss a thing. He explains that a gentle response can help to diffuse anger, and that knowledge flows from the wise. Fools, on the other hand, are leaky faucets dripping nonsense. He goes on to say that God is alert to both good and evil, and that kind words heal and help while cutting words wound and maim.
Finally, the speaker concludes by emphasizing that moral dropouts won't listen to their elders. In summary, the speaker is emphasizing the importance of wisdom and good behavior, and how God is always watching. In this conversation, the speaker explored the importance of welcoming correction and learning from wise people in order to lead a successful life. They discussed how following God's rules and listening to good advice can bring joy, satisfaction and freedom.

Sheriff Shemuel discusses the importance of obedience to God and how it can lead to a life of abundance.

He emphasizes how his life changed when he decided to turn to God, and encourages the listeners to do the same. At the end of the conversation, Sheriff Shemuel encourages the listeners to share their thoughts about the episode and to give it a like and share it. Fear of God is a school in skilled living. First you learn humility and then you experience glory. And friends, just like that, we are done with chapter 15. One of the things that really stood out to me again was that puny life thing, right? The undisciplined self willed life is puny. But the obedient, God willed life is spacious. Listen, when I did my prison time, I did five years. Two of those years were in the hole.
Prayerful answers come from Godloyal people. The wicked are sewers of abuse. God keeps his distance from the wicked. He closely attends to the prayers of the Godloyal people. A twinkle in the eye means joy in the heart. And good news makes you feel fit as a fiddle. Listen to good advice if you want to live well. An honored guest among wise men and women. An undisciplined, self willed life is puny. An obedient, God willed life is spacious.
Even hell holds no secrets from God do you think he can't read? Human hearts knowitalls don't like being told what to do they avoid the company of wise men and women a cheerful heart brings a smile to your face a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day an intelligent person is always eager to take in more truth. Fools feed on fast food, fads and fancies a miserable heart means a miserable life a cheerful heart fills the day with song a simple life in the fear of God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches.

TITLE "Wisdom and Folly: Proverbs 14 Offers Insights on Life Choices"
SUMMARY In this conversation, Robert welcomes everyone to Day 14 of Set Free 24/7. He reminds everyone that they are two weeks in and encourages them to stick around a few more days. To continue the conversation, he references Proverbs 14, which states that a way that leads to hell is foolish and disrespectful to God.
He then goes on to state that honest living is a sign of respect for God, while degenerate living is a slap in his face. Finally, he notes that frivolous talk can provoke a derisive smile. In conclusion, Robert encourages everyone to be mindful of their words and actions in order to show respect for God. This conversation highlights the importance of wise words and actions. It emphasizes the importance of hard work, moral living and compassion for the poor. It also touches upon the consequences of foolishness, such as heartbreak and regret.
The conversation encourages listeners to be open-minded and slow to anger, to avoid evil and to fear and honor God. It also warns of the dangers of listening to false witnesses and of exploiting the powerless. Finally, it stresses that wisdom is found in understanding and that a good leader will have loyal followers. In this conversation, the speaker talks about the importance of being mindful of the words we say. Chapter 14 of the Bible speaks to this, emphasizing the need to work hard, be devoted to God, and watch what we say in order to be strong and successful.
The speaker encourages the listener to think twice before speaking and to ask for prayer requests if needed. He ends the conversation by reminding the listener that he will be back for Chapter 15 the following day. The overall takeaway is that words matter and being aware of the words we use is essential for being successful and having a strong relationship with God.
TIMESTAMPS 0:00:00 Proverb 14: A Way That Leads to Hell - A Reflection on Wisdom and Folly 0:01:11
Heading: The Wisdom of the Wise: Proverbs on Righteous Living 0:05:00
Scripture Reflection: Proverbs 14 - Watch What You Say HIGHLIGHTS God devotion makes a country strong. God avoidance leaves people weak. Diligent work gets a warm commendation. But shiftless work earns an angry rebuke. And friends, that's the end of chapter 14. Just like that, we are done. Chapter a day to keep the police away. What stood out to you today? Any special verses that may have spoken to you again?
This one, kind of like yesterday, is talking about the words that are coming out of our mouth. They're so important. Fools get stupider by the day. Souls are saved by truthful witness and betrayed by the spread of lies. The fear of God builds up confidence and makes a world safe for your children. The fear of God is a spring of living water, so you won't go off drinking from poisoned wells.
The mark of a good leader is loyal followers. Leadership is nothing without a following. Slowness to anger makes for deep understanding.. A quick tempered person stockpiles stupidity. A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones. You insult your maker when you exploit the powerless. But when you're kind to the poor, you honor God. The evil of bad people leaves them out in the cold. The integrity of good people creates a safe place for living. Lady Wisdom is at home in an understanding heart. Fools never even get to say hello.
A false witness makes a business of it. Cynics look high and low for wisdom and never find it. The open minded find it right on their doorstep. Escape quickly from the company of fools. They're a waste of your time and a waste of your words. The wisdom of the wise keeps life on track. The foolishness of fools lands them in the ditch. The stupid ridicule right and wrong. But a moral life is a favored life..
The person who shuns the bitter moments of friends will be an outsider at their celebrations. Lives of careless wrongdoing are run down shacks. Holy living build soaring cathedrals. There's a way of life that looks harmless enough but look again, it leads straight to hell. Sure, those people appear to be having a good time. But all of that laughter will end in heartbreak. Sift and weigh every word.

"Proverbs 13: Gain Wisdom Through Careful Words AndEnergetic Pursuits"
Summary/Abstract
Robert welcomed the audience to Set Free 24/7 and introduced the task of reading one proverb a day to keep the police away. He asked how they were doing the past 13 days and commented on the importance of staying on the straight and narrow path. He mentioned his own experience of being on the wrong path, which is bumpy and rocky, and can even lead to prison time. He then introduced the audience to the Message version of Proverbs chapter 13 for them to read.
The Message version is just a paraphrase of the Bible and a different translation, but the audience can also follow their favorite translation if they prefer. This conversation is about the importance of walking with the wise and listening to God's word as found in Proverbs 13. It begins by explaining that intelligent children listen to their parents, while foolish children do their own thing. This is then followed by a discussion of the benefits of speaking carefully, working hard, and avoiding sin. The speaker then touches on the differences between an empty life and a full life, and the consequences of ignoring God's word. Finally, the speaker outlines the benefits of disciplining children and having an appetite for good.
Overall, this conversation emphasizes the importance of living a godly life and the rewards that come with it. In this conversation, the speaker encouraged the audience to read the Bible, even if it’s the same passage they’ve read before, because the same words can mean different things in different seasons of life. The speaker then shared a quote from Eugene Peterson, who said that his first spiritual director had never heard the term “spiritual director”, but their mutual ignorance didn’t stop them from meeting twice a week to talk, pray, and walk through life together. The speaker then shared the importance of having a community to journey through life together with, rather than doing it alone.
They then shared Proverbs 13:3, which says “Careful words make for a careful life. Careless talk may ruin everything.” This serves as a reminder to be mindful of our words, as they can have a significant impact on our lives. The speaker emphasizes the importance of carefully choosing words when speaking to others, as careless words can have a lasting effect on people. The speaker encourages the listener to be intentional with their words and to give compliments, motivation, and hope to those they encounter. The speaker concludes by encouraging the listener to like, share, and pray for the episode, and to leave prayer requests in the comments. In summary, the speaker encourages the listener to be mindful and kind when speaking to others, as words have the power to positively or negatively shape people's lives.

Highlights
But we really need to watch the things that come out of our mouth. I've heard stories from people where they remember something negative that somebody said to them for years, decades even. And that is so sad to me that something as simple as a word that someone says that may have just been careless and they didn't think about it has stuck with somebody in the back of their head and has taken up space in their head for decades.
What verse stood out to you today? Eugene Peterson had a pretty cool pause here about chapter 13, and it says that my first spiritual director didn't know that he was a spiritual director. He had never so much as heard the term. Neither had I. But our mutual ignorance of the terminology didn't stop us. We were both doing something for which we had no name. But the belly of the wicked always wants more. And friends, just like that, we are done with Proverbs chapter 1313 days into this thing. I mean, if we keep hanging out like this on a daily basis, pretty soon somebody's going to start to think something. Have you seen anything change in your life since you've been engaging in the Bible on a daily basis? I know I have. I started reading the Bible with my wife back in January, and I started doing a Proverb a day back in December.
And this one is titled Walk with the Wise. Intelligent children listen to their parents. Foolish children do their own thing. The good acquire a taste for helpful conversation. Bullies push and shove their way through life. Careful words make for a careful life.
Careless talk may ruin everything. Indolence wants it all and gets nothing. The energetic have something to show for their lives. A good person hates false talk.. A bad person wallows in gibberish. A godloyal life keeps you on track. Sin dumps the wicked in the ditch. A pretentious and showy. Life is an empty life. A plain and simple life is a full life. The rich can be sued for everything that they have. But the poor are free of such threats. The lives of good people are brightly lit streets. The lives of the wicked are dark alleys. Arrogant knowitalls stir up discord.
